John McLaughlin Live 2017 A Lotus on Irish Streams / Dance of Maya Royce Hall UCLA

On his final concert of Mahavishnu Orchestra music, John McLaughlin with fellow guitarist Jimmy Herring perform A Lotus On Irish Streams and The Dance Of Maya (7:21). John plays the latter on his Paul Reed Smith hand-made double-neck 6 and 12 string electric guitar which he graciously donates to charity after this last performance on the Meeting Of The Spirits US Farewell Tour. Both instrumentals are from Mahavishnu Orchestra 1971 debut album Inner Mounting Flame. John McLaughlin and Return To Forever featuring Chick Corea practically invented the jazz-rock fusion genre in the early Seventies.

John McLaughlin, the 4th Dimension along with Jimmy Herring and his band members were live on The Meeting Of The Spirit Tour of Mahavishnu Orchestra music at UCLA Royce Hall, University of California at Los Angeles on December 9, 2017. The legendary British jazz fusion guitarist is backed on his US Farewell Tour by his current The 4th Dimension band members Ranjit Barot on drums, Gary Husband on keyboards and Etienne M’Bappé on bass guitar along with Jimmy Herring & The Invisible Whip. John McLaughlin bids farewell to America, the birthplace of the legendary Mahavishnu Orchestra.
